Who We Are
We are a coalition of parents, community members, education activists, alumni, teachers, and current and former elected city officials committed to the preservation and betterment of Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
We believe robust, reliable funding for public schools leads to high quality education that benefits our whole community.
What We Do
We advocate for excellent public education in Santa Monica and Malibu from early childhood through community college. CEPS efforts generate $38 million dollars per year supporting lower class sizes, facilities, music programs, and more. That's over $3,500 additional dollars per student, per year! We do this by:
-
Evaluating and pursuing short and long term funding measures through state, city, and school district policies and elections
-
Identifying and supporting political actions and candidates that will strengthen our public schools
-
Building partnerships with local civic and educational groups* to promote a shared community vision for excellence in all of our public schools
-
Holding public institutions and officials accountable for high quality public education
-
Increasing public awareness of the value and uniqueness of our public schools
-
Acting as a trusted source for voter information about candidates who will make public education a priority and best serve all Santa Monica and Malibu students
